ONLINE REGISTRATION Process Approved by Board of Education
At the December 11, 2013 public meeting of the Board of Education, school trustees approved the adoption of an Online Registration Process to replace the former ‘paper-based’ system.
There has been a long history in the Central Okanagan of parents lining up well in advance for the opening of the registration period. The new online program is intended to "virtualize the standing in line process", providing a common specific time across the District to register on the opening day of registration (February 3, 2014). The program requires several steps to complete, however, the first step is relatively easy with each registrant receiving a date/time stamp on their online application which establishes their place in line. A confirmation e-mail is immediately sent to the parent to confirm that the first part of their application has been received. Applicants are then provided with a deadline to complete the next steps of the process. Schools must receive appropriate documentation (i.e., a birth certificate and proof of residency) before the student's registration application is processed.
New parents with no access to technology will be able to visit their neighbourhood school and register online at the school. Parents with their own technology and access to the internet, may complete this process from any location using the device of their choice (computer, tablet or smartphone). Moving to this online system will introduce a level of efficiency into the system, while also eliminating the need for parents to line up for long periods of time or in inclement weather. Further information will be distributed to parents in January explaining how to access the online registration link as well as the steps to be followed in completing the application process.
It is important to note that this new registration system will be used for both parents of new students (Kindergarten to Grade 12), as well as for parents wishing to register their child(ren) in a school of their choice outside their catchment area.

By June 2015, all learners at École KLO Middle School will demonstrate understanding of, and be competent with, 21st century skills as identified by the Central Okanagan School District (No.23) Attributes of a Learner.
This year École KLO Middle School will focus on two attributes: collaborator and contributor.
Please note: KLO is a SCENT FREE school.
Reminder to staff and students - We are a SCENT FREE school. The scent of perfumes and colognes can be wonderful for some people, however, these products can cause health concerns for others. We have a number of staff who are very sensitive to the scent of perfumes/colognes/body creams. For these people, breathing in such scents can result in migraine headaches and respiratory distress. Please do not wear them to school. Thank you for your consideration.
