KLO “Gets Happy”
Harmony Day Project 2014
Over the past month, KLO Middle School students, together with their mentor teachers, created an ambitious project stemming from the Central Okanagan School District’s Harmony Day, February 5th. Timing for this project also fit well with Pink Shirt Day, KLO’s very own HACE Days and year-long theme “You Get Back What you Give” as well as SD 23’s Education Week. The lip dub was first unveiled to the public at KLO’s lst Annual Show and Share Event, Wednesday, March 12th!
KLO’s goal was to put into motion SD 23’s The Attributes of a Learner” through a Lip Dub to Pharrell Williams Oscar-nominated song “Happy”. A grand undertaking, their project generated fabulous school spirit! KLO certainly is a happy place to learn! Special acknowledgements go to project leaders, Mrs. Samaddar, Mr. Butterworth and Ms. Holmes (CAT), Mentorship Block teachers and students and as well as all participants of the KLO Learning Community. KLO especially thanks to two students from the KSS Video Production Team, with their help filming and editing this project.
By June 2015, all learners at École KLO Middle School will demonstrate understanding of, and be competent with, 21st century skills as identified by the Central Okanagan School District (No.23) Attributes of a Learner.
This year École KLO Middle School will focus on two attributes: collaborator and contributor.
Please note: KLO is a SCENT FREE school.
Reminder to staff and students - We are a SCENT FREE school. The scent of perfumes and colognes can be wonderful for some people, however, these products can cause health concerns for others. We have a number of staff who are very sensitive to the scent of perfumes/colognes/body creams. For these people, breathing in such scents can result in migraine headaches and respiratory distress. Please do not wear them to school. Thank you for your consideration.
